What
is Invisalign?
Well, for those who haven’t heard, Invisalign
is the state-of-the-art system of aligning you’re
teeth without the painful, lengthy process most
are familiar with: Orthodontic Braces. Instead of
depending on metal brackets and rubber bands to
do the job, Invisalign patients are only required
to wear invisible plastic retainers that have proven
to straighten teeth in half the amount of time as
that of conventional braces.
The
perks are unavoidable:
Invisalign is less expensive, takes less time, and
makes for an overall cleaner, more confident teeth-straightening
process. The invisible retainers are made with the
latest 3-D computer imaging technology and, unlike
braces, make for very little root resorption.
By
comparison, the results are the same as conventional
braces, but the benefits are completely outnumbered.
While a full set of conventional braces costs anywhere
from $5,000 to $6,000 and can take the average patient
one to two years to complete, the most a patient
will pay for a complete Invisalign case is $4,500
and the longest they’ll wait for an improved
smile is one year.
And
the system is simple.
First, a consultation is needed to determine if
Invisalign is right for you. For some sever cases
of malocclusion, or the improper alignment of teeth,
conventional braces are the best way to go. But
80 percent of cases can be treated with Invisalign,
which makes for a better cosmetic appearance and
impeccable oral hygiene.
While
braces are often known to take hold of certain foods
by means of trapping and coloring, Invisalign retainers
are taken out when it’s time to eat. Which,
for some, has seconded as a form of weight loss.
Being able to remove the retainers also allows patients
to brush and floss like normal. And as far as office
visits go, instead of reporting back to the dentist
chair every few weeks, the average Invisalign patient
only checks in every few months.
